Sharing a love of creating handmade cards

NC Demos December 2020 Blog Hop

Welcome to the NC Demos December 2020 Blog Hop! I hope you were able to visit Laurie Meier‘s blog post, if not please do so. She always creates fantastic projects. This month, we are featuring designer series paper (DSP) from the Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.

For this month’s blog hop, I chose to work with the Playful Pets DSP. I focused on using the cats but you could also use the dogs or a combination of the two. I decided to make this a birthday card, but it could be used for almost any occasion if the recipient is a cat or dog lover. All supplies are listed at the bottom of the blog post.

Cardstock measurements (all in inches):

Smoky Slate

  • Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4
  • Front tab: 4 1/2 x 3, scored at 1 inch

Real Red

  • Front: 5 1/4 x 2 3/4
  • Inside: 5 1/4 x 4
  • Front tab: 3 1/4 x 2 3/4; 1/2 inch strip for outside greeting

White

  • Inside: 5 x 3 3/4
  • Front tab: 3 x 2 1/2

Playful Pets DSP

  • Front: 5 x 2 1/2
  • Inside: 5 x 1 1/8

Instructions

Front:

Cut 1 1/4 inches off the right edge of the front of the card base; adhere the Real Red cardstock and Playful Pets DSP to the front of the card base.

Inside:

Stamp inside sentiment on white cardstock, allowing for strip of DSP on right side. Adhere strip of DSP  to right edge of white cardstock.

Attach the Smoky Slate front tab to the back of the Real Red inside piece of cardstock (see picture below).  Adhere the Real Red cardstock to the inside of the card base, then glue the white cardstock to the Real Red cardstock.

Front tab:

Stamp the cat image onto the piece of white cardstock and color it in with Smoky Slate and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ blends.

Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment in Versamark ink on the red strip. Pour white embossing powder over Versamark inked greeting, then heat set with heat tool. Use Label Me Lovely Punch on ends of greeting.

Attach Real Red cardstock to front tab, then adhere white cardstock with stamped and colored cat on top.

Glue greeting  on white cardstock with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Add red rhinestones as desired.

Here are two of the same card.  The one on the left was made with Smoky Slate and the one on the right was made with Basic Gray.

Please be sure to hop on over to Jo Anne Hewins‘ blog post to see her wonderful project this month. You will find the complete list and links of this month’s blog hoppers below.

  1. Dawn – What a great card design and a great way to show off beautiful DSP! I don’t have the Playful Pets DSP, but the more great cards I see with it, the more I’m convinced I need to get some 🙂
